on the way home from the flea today i stopped at Target.i was looking for the hw red cars.not out yet.so i starting looking
around at the rest of the isle.for mb there are 2 pegs for the color changers.one was empty the other had about 6.
then it dawned on me.there are no pegs for mb singles.i went up and down the isle on both sides.and found one lonely
mb hanging with the hws.
i did noticed that they filled 2 isles on both sides with lego stuff.
is this just this store in Chicago or are yours the same?

It varies from the two stores here in Boise....each carries a bit different selection. Sometimes no Matchbox singles at all, then a couple of pegs up to as many as 4 pegs for singles. It is increasingly difficult to find the other brands (RC, JL, for example), but there are a lot of F&F cars, and of course, an entire aisle dedicated to nothing but CARS (Pixar....that is). M2, AW, some or none....almost like it depends on the weather or something....

In general, it appears the ratio of Matchbox to HW at all major chains varies from <10% to no more than 20%. (I'm more or less including all the Matchbox multipacks to arrive at those ratios.) So, the blue brand is uber-dominant still and forever; the orange brand is treated like an afterthought.

Some other posts had noted that Target seems to be dropping the Matchbox singles again...I rarely go to Target so honestly couldn't tell you what might be on the pegs. The ones in my area never had the "extra" brands like Johnny LIghtning, M2, Racing Champions, etc.

Matchbox singles have come and gone at the Targets in Charlotte over the years.

I have been 4 different Targets over the past month. 2 had no regular MBX, and the other 2 had probably a dozen or so on the pegs. All the same models. And then a bunch of the new color changers at all four locations. 2 of those four Targets also used to carry JL, AW, RC and GL, but now have stopped carrying those all together it seems.

I already created a Thread about this, but I would like to add that they also hide the 5-packs now. They are not with the other diecast.

The Target about a mile from me, the only one I really ever go to anymore, and that aint too often, happens to have a few pegs of singles, but the batch is from a number of months ago, even though they just restocked it within the last few weeks.....guess they found an old box laying around in the back.

Yes, I've noticed the drop-off in stocking MB at Target stores as well. Even the one super Target that used to have pegs of them has dropped down to just a few. Oh well, there's other stores I can visit. Wal-mart is still the king for me.

Nothing good ever happens after midnight.
The Target by me just reset the diecast aisle, and the pickings for MB are very slim. They weren't all that great to begin with, they used to be across the aisle from the Hot Wheels. I still have better luck at Dollar General and Marc's, a local grocery chain.
