Sorry, that's a 1970 Mustang. Matchbox made a '68 and a '70 Mustang (among others) but never did a '69 in this scale. And I don't know why, but I wish they had. :petkitty:

Yup, your right. When the light hits the chrome base right it looks like '69 at a quick glance. Always did have trouble between '69 and '70.

Oh yeah this was a cool series.iirc this was before diecast mania set in and a lot of these did not sell well.

I think this series was right after the inaugural series.I still have a Viper from that series stashed somewhere.

This mustang is one of my favorite castings theyve ever done.

Thanks for the pics and the memories.

70s had the little vent like slots on the outside of the head lights...
I painted mine red and added a scoop...

Here's a Johnny 70 Stang... Notice the head light location in the grill area...

And a Greenlight 70 coupe Stang...

Here's a couple of Greenlight 69 Stangs... Again, notice head lights outside the grill area and no little vent slots...

The first shots was an interesting concept, not one that did much for me though, and thinking they did not sell all that well.
