It was back in August (8/7/17, or 7/8/17 for our European friends) that David Tilley posted his last update to the 2017 "batch list". We've heard/seen the Nissan Jr pickup was found in Greece (Crete, or another island?) Is there any hint of the batch with the Nissan Jr in stores anywhere else on earth? I realize as we get closer to the end of the calendar year there could be a sudden rush of batches to stores, but we're still 3 batches "behind" for the 2017 model year, and it seems the first batch(es) of the following model year show up during the previous calendar year. So, what's holding up distribution now? Storms? Earthquakes? Wildfires? Strikes at factories? Just curious....and tired of the pull of possibility forcing me to go to stores frequently with no expectation I'll see anything new, and meeting that expectation every time. |

If I recall, didn't this also happen last year where batches seemed to come out slower as the year progressed. It just seems I recall a similar discussion last fall.

I've seen one Subaru WRX and two red Chevy vans in the Seattle area. Nothing new in 5-6 months. Generics everywhere. |

Someone on ePay had listed Batches K, L and M. Forgot to look at what part of the country or world he was selling from. |

Thanks for that. I got an email from Wheelcollectors with that info and checked out the batches on their store site. It looks like we may start seeing new stuff soon in stores....and since GCU just mentioned he got three models from the L batch in Oregon, looks like maybe the PNW is gonna see these before other regions. Ain't that the way it works? I post a question one day, and the very next day word comes that my question is being answered! I'm a HERO, I tell ya, a HERO! I now may have a reason to 'make the rounds' tomorrow in Boise to see if any stores have stocked either of those cases! (Besides the fact I need a few food items.....) Blair |

I checked 2 Walmarts this morning, and while I did manage to get 2 Super Treasure Hunts, I didn't find any Matchbox. So it's actually easier to find chase cars than it is new Matchbox models.

I "made the rounds" yesterday (and a bit today) and yesterday I found 2 WM and 1 Fred Meyer (Kroger) had some of the latest (L) batch in stock. But, guess what was NOT hanging on the pegs from that batch? The Nissan Jr pickup and the Datsun 510 Rallye...... at all three stores, I saw almost every other model from the batch, but conspicuously absent were those two licensed models. Therefore, I now declare (on a very small dataset) that the Nissan Jr. and the Datsun 510 Rallye car are the most popular models in Matchbox Batch L! Anyway, here's a peek at what I did bring home (missing: the Chevy Avalanche and a couple of other Matchbox "Originals" that I wasn't so fond of....): ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young , on Flickr What I bought....of what was available. ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr The "originals" All-Terrain Crane is now in INC Construction livery.....another one for the collectors of INC Construction models.... ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr "Originals" for 2017 HailCat snow/all terrain "Arctic Rescue" vehicle ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr Detail (sorry that my actual P&S camera takes worse photos than my iPhone....but it's easier to get the photos off the camera than the phone...) of the rescue gear on top: there's a chainsaw, 3 jerry cans, a tool box or first aid kit, and a big bundle of something (presumably rescue-related). ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr The "Matchbox RV" (aka "Motor Home"...the actual model/casting name) ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr Some interior detail: I love the detail in many of the models...even if they have to put a transparent section in the roof to see them. This is the table, complete with coffee cups and a slice of pie. ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr The 4-burner stove and sink. ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr The Scout. This one has a racing/road bike (bicycle) motif. But, no bikes in the back. ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr Meter Maid's new Police livery ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr Is it just me, or does the card art look more brown than copper? ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr The Firebird Formula in as close to actual color as I could get.... ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr All the tampo budget went into the "firebird" on the hood. So, no 3-sided printing on this one.... ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr Aqua King....now I consider this an "emergency vehicle" due to all the natural disasters in our hemisphere currently.... The new "DUK DUK" model: ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr DUK-DUK detail ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr This is my favorite of the new releases I found this week. Notice on the card art there are fire extinguishers mounted there. Also on the model. ![]() Selection from 2017 Matchbox "batch L" by Jefferson Young, on Flickr MB1040 (for Tilley and others who want to know....) Model name is back there on the rear axle housing. |

Looks like you had a very good day in Boise, Blair. Of what you showed, the ones that interest me is the Meter Maid and the Hailcat Arctic Rescue - makes me think of some of the tracked rescue things I have seen in the Cascade Mountains of Washington. Your comment about the water truck being a rescue vehicle reminded me of 2008 when Cedar Rapids, IA flooded and as we headed that way from Oklahoma our daughter told us to bring water, diapers, paper plates - you know it amazing how much bottled water and other things you can put in a Ford Taurus station wagon!
