Since Blair (b2young) was so kind to announce one of the recent batches showing up at Dollar Tree here in the US, I stopped by the one near home today, and found a few things I hadn't yet seen this year.

One of those is the new Glass King, which I don't recall anyone posting before, so thought I'd share a few photos....

The frame work to mimic holding the glass in place is a lot thicker plastic than what I would have
liked to see, to appear more realistic, but I understand how toy companies have to concern themselves with child safety and issues like that, and kind of over thicken parts on models.
It is a separate piece as well, so it pulls right off, just having two pegs in it.

The back piece actually looks like a cage from the profile, so I was thinking why not do a zoo truck or something in the future, though I realize that caged animals aren't all that politically correct these days either. :D

Another interesting thing I found, interesting to me anyway, is the Travel Tracker color of the plastic rear bed area,
It almost appears they found a way to create a somewhat metallic look to the gold coloring, if this is true, and not just my eyes playing tricks on me, then I wonder if they will do the same to make gray plastic look more silver, which would be good for base plates and other parts of a model.

Ahh Yes, finding that one gave me the biggest smile out of all of them.

Glad to have encouraged you to take a look!

I checked a couple other DTs today and didn't see anything new at them....so really lucky my neighborhood store (near the Walmart) had restocked last week.

I didn't know the Glass King's rack comes off like that....I guess that's how the driver gets the glass out.... B)

I am in Bismarck for a couple of days (can you say doctor appointments). There are three DT stores I can check out while my wife is looking for new drapes and window treatments for the house as we just got new windows. Would be kind of neat if I could find that glass truck. :D

The Glass Kings is quite cool. I took a look at it many times while in Greece where the new batches were already out, but decided not to pick it up since I don't collect trucks and had like 15lbs of stuff bought already.. picked up the red Ram though.

Whether you like the casting or not, I enjoy seeing how MB designers work their magic interlocking the different pieces. It makes me want to get a 3-D printer and see if I could do it.

Who'd a thunk anyone would come up with a model of a sheet glass delivery truck? The minds of those Matchbox designers are off in the weeds, in a really GOOD way IMHO!

I always admire the designers abilities as well, looking at this one it appears it might be just 4 pieces, excluding the wheel assemblies, so it's pretty clever how they might come up with the plan to do just like you say, work their magic interlocking the different pieces.
