I am so glad Johnny has brought back a boating series like the old Bassin' USA series:

I have collected several of the new "Gone Fishing" sets, but no plans to collect every issue due to different color schemes. I do like a new style of boat though...

These are what has my highest hopes of seeing brought back to the line up!!!
These customizing kits...

Johnny had my full, undivided attention for over 10 years in finding and collecting these full series. I still have a few of the American Graffiti series to go though...

That Mustang series was amazing! I went from store to store tracking down every single one of those.

Johnny Lightning was a trailblazer in this era, really shaped the diecast world of today. From the "chase" models, muscle cars, Japanese cars, modifiable castings (to be able to produce different model years from the same basic casting), model kits with custom parts, packages of just wheels/axles for custom builds, vintage race cars in authentic trim, detailed paint - JL really led the way that caused the big boys at Mattel to follow.

i'm thrilled so far with the new boats- i've bit the hook, so to speak, and have gotten every one so far... it's getting hard to keep up. Wasn't too happy about the plastic trailers at first, but i do like the hitches much better than those pesky GL screws...

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I remember buying the custom kits for a dollar at a swap meet, and maybe at a KB Toys store on close out, as well.

They did have a few duds though.

Great collection of JLs! I really liked the old Bassin' USA sets, it was a neat series.

Some of the sets, kits, and stuff like that by JL I don't even remember seeing in regular stores when they were at retail, and I think I ended up getting a handful of the Bassin' USA, and a couple of the kits at close out stores, maybe KB toy liquidators, but didn't remember seeing them elsewhere before that, but then again, if they were kind of expensive retail I probably would have passed them by anyway. :D
