For us adults it is probably laughable but for a chlld's toy I can imagine them coming up to mom or dad and asking why an ambulance says meat wagon. As a side note - none of those low end sets ever showed up at the Target stores in my area - but then was also told by two clerks when I asked about something I wanted to get my wife and they informed me that the Bismarck store was not a Super Target and thus many items needed to be ordered on-line. So I am guessing that maybe the mid size Target stores did not get these items in for the Christmas season. |

Yeah, I didn't care for the "meat wagon" especially and even the "new type" being on the toys. |

I haven't opened those packages yet, but now I see that in my sets too. I kinda wonder where the makers/designers got the idea for "meat wagon", let alone the "new type"....has anyone with experience in China seen real ambulances that say "New Type" in any language on the 1:1? I can only guess maybe the person responsible for the tampo pattern(s) had visited some U.S. big city fire department and heard someone in the EMS section call an ambulance "the meat wagon"....or maybe it was in some movie? |

I am not sure of the history behind the term "meat wagon" for ambulance but have heard it used - know Johnny Lightning had the custom Packard ambulance that originally was a model kit called "Meat Wagon". Just a guess but I am thinking the term goes back well before the days of EMT's and paramedics and perhaps to the time when funeral homes doubled up the hearse as an ambulance. Just a guess though on my part. Think I will just stick with Katie and her "Krankenwagens!"

Think one of the ambulances I have came from a member here via a Five Below store. I finally found one last year but it is in St. Cloud, MN (an hour out of Minneapolis).
