So I spotted the Tiny Houses at TRU yesterday.
I expected something a little better than what I found.
In my opinion the detailing is poor at best... take a look.
Neat idea, but one I think I'll pass on. At least for now.
Not to say they aren't nice, just not nice enough for me to spend my money on.

I think the sticker price was $14.99.

I saw these at hobby lobby and to me the houses look toyish and narrow. The only time I will buy this is for the truck that I really really want. It's even more pricier than 'gone fishing'.

To me, the 'houses' aren't meant to be houses. I think they are more like work sheds or storage units.
Although I have seen some very small 'vacation houses' in some photos from some northern European/Scandinavian countries.

I still think these would make nice additions to a rural diorama.

I am curious if they come off the trailer. They looked like they might be one piece (house & trailer). I didn't bother looking to see if they were screwed on from the bottom side.

I bought one of these (the red one with the Dodge Ram), just because it was something different and unusual, but I don't plan on buying any more. It is kind of cool, but I agree that the detailing definitely is not great.

That's a real style of house that people are living in these days, not just a shed! Anyway, I'll probably pass on the toy version.

Yeah, Tiny Houses is a real thing and a TV show. While I appreciate the anti-materialism/simplification theme, I'd be interested to see how long these families live in these things. It's a facet of current tough economic times for the middle class. The detail is fine for dioramas, but we diecast fans have a higher quality level expectation.

Mine's a little bigger but I have no yard to speak of in the front.

I am not impressed - the ones you showed look terrible and very poorly finished - and this is something JL wants us to rush out and buy? The pictures certainly made them look better than the finished product. I have watched the Tiny Houses show a few times - sorry - those are not my cur of tea and I wonder in the long run how long some of those people - especially the ones with kids and such actually remain living in such cramped quarters. Sorry - but I like big spaces... :D

Guess we could see them as having a hand painted charm, but then again, a cleaner neater tampo printing might have been better for these in that price range.

As for my vote, I'm undecided, I'd have to see if the tow vehicle interested me enough, and I may consider it since they represent an interesting kind of dwelling, though I'd never be able to live in a real one with my collection.

Not now. I can't say that the idea was high on my list to begin with, but if they can't be painted neatly and crisply, then what is the point? I can't say that I'm really a "truck guy", so I'm not interested in the tow vehicles either. Interesting idea I suppose, most likely trying to capitalize on the popularity of the GL Hitch and Tow series, but poorly executed.

I have bought two, they are $21.99 at Hobby Lobby, and with the 40% off coupon, the price is actually semi-reasonable. I like them myself, but then again I have a few of the Enesco Department 56-style holiday village buildings on my diorama, which these go pretty well with.

My thoughts were along similar lines...I bought ceramic houses and shops over the past few years for a buck or two each. The finish is similar...but they are ceramic and they cost a buck or two, so forgivable.

I wasn't aware of this series, but I don't think I'm missing anything either. Should have made a hunting cabin or an ice fishing shack.

assuming we are talking about the sets shown here and not acual tiny houses, then yes. the houses look like they might come off the trailers, and you would have a nice truck and flatbed trailer left.

I mean, I guess they could be repainted, but that kind of defeats the purpose. If nothing else, the trucks are decent if a bit small, and there's a nice trailer.

I thought with time we should progress but JL seems to be going backward. These Tiny jokes look like pages from a 5 yr olds coloring book.

Just saw them in person today, they're even worse than I thought. The package was quite heavy, could they be plaster/ceramic? Two screws on the bottom of the trailer.
