First off, I'd like to say that Auto World is probably my FAVORITE diecast line. I never would have IMAGINED anybody making a 69 Kingswood Station Wagon, 63 Polara, 74 Coupe DeVille etc... The detail and selections so far have been great! Having said that, the year is coming to a close and not a SINGLE new casting from Auto World. I seem to remember around the end of 2016 an announcement that there would be SIX new castings in 2017. All we saw were the mock ups for the the Buick Estate Wagon and 62 Chevy and no information after that. I understand the need to offer re-paints of existing castings to amortize the tooling, and some of the repaints have been really sharp (the Barracuda Color Chart Car comes to mind and I'm REALLY looking forward to the Ocean Mist 442), but I am a little disappointed that there was nothing ALL NEW during 2017. OR, at the very least, more information about upcoming plans. |

So what (I apologise for sounding like a stovepipe turd). They are still the best in the book. Count your blessings they are here for us. Or buy M2 like me and then buy another to make it one. Edited by daniel60, Dec 31 2017, 11:20 AM.

It feels like the Autoworld momentum has been slowed down by Racing Champions and JL. Personally, I wish those two brands remained dead - put the effort and investment into AW rather than re-releasing the somewhat inferior castings from JL and RC. |

I haven't found many new 2017 AW releases anyway so, at least for me, new castings wouldn't have mattered. |

Yeah most of my collection comes from a couple lucky days and mainly Ebay. I use to really get mad but now I pretty much have accepted it. Wish they were more available that's for sure. I rather have a limited collection with fine collectibles than M2's over flooded market of cars that can't past quality control then what is delivered to Walmart. |

I've bought what I found hanging on the pegs in terms of AW this year. For the price point of $5-$6 I don't see a better bargain. Might think by the start of 2018 we'll start hearing more about new castings and I eagerly look forward to the Buick roundback wagon in 2018. Would be awesome to see some Imperials, more wagons and some sedans from the late 50s-late 80s. Would agree to a certain point that the money/time gone into re-launching the RC and JL brands could have gone into the AW brand. Outside of a few RC and JL castings that I collected previously to their re-launches I've not bought a whole lot of those brands. We're heading into the year 2018 and if I'm buying small scale model that is collector targeted at a collector grade cost then I want it to be true 1/64 scale with scaled rims/tires, painted grills/headlights and detailed paint. Their is no excuse anymore in this hobby for us not to have really nice models and I think by and large AW, GL, M2, Tomica ec.t off that in various targeted demographics. |

Since I am not a big collector of the Auto World castings I am hesitant to comment on this but I really have wondered what the thought was of "reissuing" the old JL and RC castings with minor upgrades and offer no new castings in those series. As some have said they seem to have put more concentration into reissuing those and let their main Auto World sit on the back burner outside of different colors/decos. Not sure that is a wise move. But the other problem, and I know some have commented on the limited numbers, is the distribution. At least at the places I shop they are few and far between to be found - old castings or new - and that is for all three lines. I choose not to do E-Bay and on-line dealers often only sell by the sets so... |

I won't say anything bad about AW. Good things take time. GL has been releasing new castings right and left but they don't have the "Spot-on" crispness of AW's. I'm glad to get RC's and JL's. I doubt that they're taking away from AW's ability to make new castings. The molds already existed. |

2017 was a big letdown for Autoworld. I'm not sure what happened that the six new castings they were bragging about introducing at the end of 2016 never materialized. There was a mockup of the Buick Estate wagon and 62 Chevy shown to us many months ago, but no updates ever followed. With all of the repaints that were released during 2017, it doesn't seem like there will be many variations left to balance out the lineup when/if the new castings hit the pegs. I'm going into 2018 with my expectations low to avoid a repeat disappointment, but it would be real nice to see those 6 castings show up along with another 6. I don't think 6 new castings in any calendar year is too much to ask for. |

I only have a few AW. Talked with them before they started releasing cars. Waited for the '84 Camaro and it was supposed to have correct wheels. They didn't even get the car correct, has a rear spoiler from anything but an American car and just a generic wheel. And then I gave up on them when supposedly they couldn't get cars because of the dock strike in CA but strangely M2 and Greenlight had no problem. Maybe if everybody quit buying M2 for their collections because of quality, oops, can't do that, wouldn't have a collection to look at. But look on the bright side, by not getting M2 and going for the AW look at all the money you save and your displays won't be overflowing and always have room for more. Strange part about the Camaro's is they have the JL molds and they have the correct spoilers, DUH. Edited by Z28HO, Jan 2 2018, 01:13 AM.

Even if AW doesn't come out with new molds in 2018, I think their 1/64 cars will sell. Nice thing about them is you CAN find them on Ebay if not locally. Even WM and TRU "Exclusives" can be found there and the market determines the price. Some models have been released over and over but others, like the 61 Dodge, haven't and should be rerun. I like them and that's some thing I seldom admit about anything. |

I think we need to have some patience with Auto World. I remember a few years back people were belly aching about Greenlight and M2 for not bringing out new toolings and were doing the exact same thing. They were rehashing the same castings in different colors. Now, they are throwing new stuff at us all the time. Give it some time. |

Man I love to see Auto World do some trucks. Can you imagine how on the spot those would be. |

While I totally agree with the sentiment expressed, as the RC and JL castings are somewhat to greatly inferior to AW- I believe they really hit a stroke of genius. By bringing back many castings seldom seen from other manufacturers (77 Cutlass Supreme, 65 Catalina, Chevy Monza, etc) and lowering the production to meet demand 1200 - 2500 units they have been able to sell out and command a high price. I imagine by using the older castings that are long paid for at a $5-6 price-point they must be quite profitable. Some of the castings have aged well (Buick Regal/ Grand National) and look fantastic in their updated details. While I have been a lot more selective in paying full price for the reincarnations, I have picked up quite a few. Hopefully these profits are being funneled into the AW pipeline so we all can enjoy their superior quality. |
