Playart Mercury with red interior and stickers:![]() Light blue interior: ![]() (It is actually light blue...that's not just an effect from the light blue windshield 'glass') I presume someone also had to do a grocery run in the old "eastern bloc"... Grell Wartburg Camping feuerwehr: ![]() Another by Grell: ![]() It's a Rennpappe 500 (East Germany?) for a volunteer fire brigade. |

That Playart Mercury with the flames on top came in a couple of variations, too:![]() From rear: the one Sammy showed (same wheels as the one in the middle, just the "chrome" rubbed off); then tampo variations without the orange fill-in, and on the blue light version a wheel variation, too. Plus another wheel variation to show in a while. (This model, and most of the Playart fire vehicles, got me to be a fanatic for collecting variations of certain castings.) |

These are among the models that converted me to an "emergency vehicle" collector, rather than just a "fire engine" collector. I loved those white Matchbox police cars, had a couple of the merc wagons and the two police cruisers (never had the original police cars - the Fairlanes - until just a few years ago at ABQ). I had NEVER seen a totally white police car before they came out, and I thought they were fantastically 'foreign' just because in my youth all the cop cars I saw were black and white -- on TV and in real life. These were just so......different! I was hooked. |

Tomica Honda Civic Country blood bank car - this one comes with a "commercial" guys - if you can donate, please do. I know how important it is having received 15 units of blood in Sept. 2016 - one of the reasons I am still here today to play at the Garage.

Ernst inspired my search, last year, for variations of the Playart Mercury wagon, and this is my overview shot of what I gathered during my search:![]() Playart Mercury Wagons by Jefferson Young, on Flickr Interior colors and exterior deco were the primary search criteria, but patterns became evident with wheel and base differences and the two with blue lights instead of red (on the right side of the fire chiefs). I have much to do if I want to 'catch up' with Ernst on the Police cruisers, but I believe I got all the interior colors and one of the ones shown has tampo'd lettering while the rest are all stickers. (The Camaro is there because of its red interior as well as I store it with the Mercurys....and the Hongwell because I had just photographed it and it helps show the scale of the Hongwell vs the Playart Mercs.) |

Speaking of the Hongwell Mercedes Benz 300T:![]() ![]() This is approximately HO scale; I'd estimate it's in the 1:80 range. |

All these old wagons are giving me flashbacks to riding in the back of my mom's old Country Squire, usually wedged between my older brother and sister.
