Welcome to the Feb. 2018 edition of "Tailboard Talk"! This month we are featuring any Emergency related die-cast version of the Ford Econoline van. The Econo-line has been around for decades and was a workhorse of emergency response during the 1970s, 80s and beyond. It had a great run up until a few years ago.

Please join us as we share pictures, info, or stories about any Police, Fire, and EMS E-series vans.

OK, time's up... Let's do this!

I'll start it off with a simple, but clean looking version of the Ford Econoline van dressed up in Fire Department uniform -

Excellent models.I dont ever recall seeing those King Stars before.
They were made in Korea - I know the ones I have were all found in a grocery store chain in St. Louis.

the only other King Star models I know of are Mercedes fire chief, Mercedes sedan ambulance, and the aerial ladder truck. Did they make any Police vehicles?

Yes, the Mercedes was released in the green and white colors of police cars in Germany but Police labels in English.

Funny the only place I ever saw them around here was a Walbum's Food Mart in the 80's.

A Yatming.

Here is the Yatming Ford Ambulance that came in the same set as the fire van. I always thought is was weird that all the versions of the fire and police vans have a light bar, but I have never seen the ambulance come with one.

While looking at my Econo-vans, I found this Yatming/Univ.Studio "fire" van without a light bar or rotator.

P.S. The Yatming vans I have without light bars were made in Hong Kong. The van with the light bar was made in China. That maybe the difference. I believe the newer ones have the lighting. The toy industry finally caught up with the 1/1 trend of light bars.

I think I have a blue civilian version of that Mercedes also, but then that doesn't apply to the emergency board. :D

Well this one might be an iffy Econoline, or possibly a modified version of one.

Firedog,

This is why the Fire van with a light bar and the Ambulance without one was always so funny to me, they came in the same set. I have sen this set up with every Yatming set I can recall with both an Ambulance and either a Fire or Police van.

Here are two "knock-offs" of the Yatming vans. Very small difference in graphics and different bases. Both were made in HK.
