Old fire apparatus doesn't bring the same value that old muscle cars of the same era and unfortunately for that price it will sit....

Well I know I couldn't afford it, but it would be neat to have something like that for shows or parades or something, neater as my work truck though, but I don't think I could even afford the gas. :D

 That would be neat to have the 1/1 for parades and such but like someone said, sadly unless it is really your interest and you have the funds and such the older fire apparatus tends to sit. I know where several older units sit slowly "drifting away" on the way to Fargo.

It’s not just the price that will get you, there are cost of repair, maintenance and in many cases the parts are preparatory and out of production, so you pay an arm and a leg for them, or have to have them custom made. Then there is restoration, which will be an arm and a leg. Also this is something our really don’t want to leave out side, so you get into the headache of storage. I would love an old rig, but the reality of talking to friends with them snaps me back to reality. Also since a few neighbors have issues with the guy who stores his RV in his yard, I am sure an old fire rig would cause some zoning issues.

On a side note the seller mentions it’s in Andy Leider warehouse, Leider has over 400 antique trucks, and having been to the warehouse (and shown photos on here) it is true lay a massive and amazing collection up there.

If I were a millionaire, I might buy it and convert the interior of the rescue box to a motorhome/camper....if that was doable... leave the outside looking just like a fire rig (but no markings as such) and proudly drive it around to campgrounds and on vacations....getting about 7 mpg along the way...
