Nice looking truck! The firewood in the back adds a nice touch.

Sad firefighter
Our trucks were made to be 'working trucks'....and this one looks like it's been hard at work! My personal (not agency) '65 Chevy often carried loads like this, but my current Ford Ranger has never had a load of firewood in it (different time and place and situation...). I used to love our 'project work' where we got to go out and cut trees and slash...and even one fire assignment where the local inexperienced fire crews were used to build preventative "fuel breaks" up in Montana on the Rocky Boy Reservation, at the same time "making" firewood out of the trees we had to cut, for the Reservation's population. We didn't haul the cut wood in government rigs (well, except as necessary for the next bit), but we stacked it near access points for the locals to haul away for free in their own rigs. (I got pulled off that supervision assignment to go to Yellowstone National Park--it was the infamous 1988 fire season--so I didn't get to see the fuel break project to it's conclusion. But it was the first time I got to see Yellowstone; I was stationed in Alaska in those days. Imagine, free working holidays in America's first National Park....)
