Color chip car revisited; Almost but not quite,,,,

The second try at the color chip car is much better than the first. AW calls it a 1964, while the first was a 1965. In addition to correcting some of the colors, AW has begun to use a better looking WSW tire on this release. I know, most of you guys don't like this but for those who might, the "corrected" car is on the left in this shot. It is a "Hobby Exclusive" so don't look for it at WM.

I like them both. I have the retail version and the Hobby Exclusive is on it's way to my garage... should arrive this week.

When the retail version came out, I was perplexed that it didn't quite match the old ad I had seen. At first I thought AW took some liberties with the order the colors are displayed, but then I found out there was another old ad that matched this car.... so both cars are very close copies of the original adverts.

Sometimes it really is better when you do it by the book! These Barracudas are replicated just like they looked in the original Plymouth sales brochures, including the famous sample-swatch car! It also makes for a great looking Ultra-Red…

Auto World Premium 2017 Release 3, Versions A (Black) & B (All Colors). Due July 2017

Thanks for the ad copies, Geeg. I see what AW wanted to do and it is a good effort. AW's prepro 65 has colors that are better matched than the production car. The new car (1964) is done very well except for the metallic shades. Again, Kudos to AW for the better WSW tires.

Oh, a huge improvement from the first! I'll be snapping this one up too. I love it! This is the kind of thing I want to see more of in small scale!

Much improved! I was initially excited about this concept, then disappointed in the final product. The hobby exclusive revisit looks much better with more factory accurate paint colors. The only difference between the two should be the second to last stripe changing from Ivory to Gray, but several of the other colors look "off" like they tried to match the printed ad instead of the way the car would have looked in real life. Improved wsl tires are a bonus. Thanks for sharing!

I love this model. No, it's not the prettiest Barracuda. What it is a replica of a part of Chrysler's history, and a very cool marketing campaign in its day. That's why it appeals to me.

I bought an extra of the regular release and would buy an extra of the hobby release if I ever see one out somewhere. I love the idea! It's like a piece of history from 1965!
