But no Seagrave....so, the B batch had ONE Seagrave (orange), the C batch apparently has none (or else Wheelcollectors already sold the Seagrave?). But, the new '33 Plymouth PC Sedan in brown police livery is in the batch. Hot Wheels also seems to have a new police car (seen at WheelCollectors ebay presence) and two color varies of the Propper Chopper "rescue" helicopter (both yellow fuselage, one with red base, one with black). |

I went to a neighboring town Wal-Mart to check the toys out. The MBX pegs had their usual warmers. Yes. I was not happy. Then I looked on the bottom of a shelve. There was an opened MBX box. Lord and behold...there was the Seagrave.

Had hoped to do some little car looking earlier this week while in Bismarck but instead spent seven hours in the ER getting a little bump in the road checked out. All turned out well but doctor said these things do need to be checked... Anyway after that no time for toys...the new '33 Plymouth will be nice in police design. Could you tell if the new police car from Hot Wheels was a realistic type issue or more custom.

The HW police car is the Dodge Charger Drift in white with a quasi-realistic police livery (PURSUIT in diagonal along the sides), but it does have the big spoiler on the rear end. It's in HW case G for this year (though it's shown with a header saying Case F). The one pictured at WheelCollectors is on a card without the 50th Anniversary logo; both mine have the 50th Anniversary logo on the card front. Browsing around their ebay "store" I see they're also selling individual models from the new Matchbox 2018 Jurassic World 5-pack...which I think we may have seen previewed somewhere here in the past week (maybe the Matchbox bay, logically?). The one I saw is a licensed armored truck from Textron in the InGen livery of the movies. Looks really good. There's a 3-axle transporter that looks pretty good too, but all I can see is it's bottom half in the pic of the Textron truck. I just saw that it's also available as a single....maybe more of the 5-pack will be individual cards too. Edited by b2young, Mar 4 2018, 12:59 AM.

I have managed, thanks to a tip or two from members here, to pick up a few of the Batch C models at the two area Target stores. I've still not seen all of the models...not sure Target puts an entire case out even if there's plenty of peg space. So I was able to grab the 'sea green' Land Rover 90, the 'Cuda, '17 Honda Civic Hatchback, the recolor of the HailCat between the two stores, but have only seen one Garbage Gulper and no Ford Expedition or MBXcavator. Until yesterday, the gem ("blair" with me...heh heh) had eluded me as well. Some invisible power of the universe compelled me to take a run yesterday to check the nearer Target, and while most of the batch was already gone (or just not pegged?), prominent on the pegs was that 'gem', the '33 Plymouth PC Sedan in it's subdued brown "Police" livery. Two of them...on the front of the pegs. Even with the earlier tease of photos from various online sources, I wasn't "sold" on the casting until I had it in my hand. Now I'm a fan. And, with it's era-appropriate lack of warning lights or visible siren, it's a sure candidate to show up in many civilian "liveries" (if civilian cars have "liveries"...) in the future. Basically, I've not been a collector of early-20th-century automobiles...but this one (and the Hudson Hornet of last year) are showing me what it is collectors like about older cars, and I have to agree. Maybe it's just the job Matchbox did on this casting (I like it BETTER than the Hornet...), but I may even add civilian versions in the future if they're plain-jane and not all gaudied-up... For those who haven't had the pleasure of seeing one up close (I searched briefly here at Swifty's and couldn't find any other post highlighting it, so I'm gonna add it to the Apparatus Bay), here's a sneak peak: ![]() WHAT!? "Chromed" base? And a black fender/interior piece? For more, see my separate thread.... Edited by b2young, Mar 15 2018, 12:06 PM.
