1952 White WC Project

Yesterday at Goodwill, I found this cast-resin, handmade, highly rare DeHanes 1952 White WC big rig, with severe frame damage from being played with, for $5 today. If you know anything about DeHanes trucks, they are detailed with somewhat crude construction and are handmade, are close to 1/64, and VERY expensive, made in very small quantities.

I took it apart, did some work on the cab and glass so I can put this on some kind of Greenlight International Workstar or Durastar frame & bed from Hobby Lobby. Was inspired by some builds from the 1/64 scale diecast groups & hashtags around social media sites when I saw it, and I'm looking forward to adding the finished product to my collection when it's all finished.

I'll be perfecting and fine-tuning this cab and its detailing until I get the GL truck as a donor, and am looking forward to seeing it all finished.

Finished the build. The chassis has been modified (will retrofit a brass axle tube to make the front wheels fit squarely in the openings, and will repaint the front wheel wells then), bed deck is scratchbuilt from a thin softwood Cabot wood stain color sample I got from the supply warehouse at work. Since these photos were taken, the mudflaps have been detailed, exhaust stack remounted more cleanly and the opening at the top detailed, and a Greenlight Reese hitch was fitted underneath.
