#119 (appropriate lineup #) from Tomica; Tomica finally has a NEW fire engine...

Hope this isn't "old news" (but I'm so accustomed to being the last to know...), Tomica has finally, after what, 6 or more years(?) added a NEW fire engine to the mainline. I've been hoping for something really NEW for a long, long time (or at least it sure seems it's been years and years and three or more 'accidental' purchases of the ubiquitous "Blower Truck"...I was sooooo desperate to get a NEW Tomica fire engine.....)

So, here it is, Number 119 (the 'emergency call' number somewhere, if not Japan/Tokyo...), Morita Multi-Purpose Fire Fighting Vehicle with 13m Aerial Platform MVF (or as we called them over here in the olden days....a "snorkel"...) (Not sure what the "MVF" stands for...anyone?)

And yes, it rotates....

*[I can't believe I forgot about this: the Tomica Premium Morita Wildfire Concept fire engine! So it's only been a couple of years between new tools....the Wildfire Concept is my favorite Tomica fire engine of all time, next to just about every other Tomica fire apparatus I've ever managed to know of or add to my collection....but still, it seems WAY too long between new fire trucks with Tomica....but apparently better than Majorette...and slower than Matchbox of late...]

Like that new Tomica snorkel truck, maybe there was some delay on getting a new fire rig from them, but I wonder how long it's been since a new snorkel truck, probably a very long time huh.

Has it been that long between fire trucks?

Thanks for that "hot" tip, Michael!

Yeah, it seems the lag between the Morita Forest Fire Concept and the MVF was just about two years (Forest Fire truck out in 2015; nothing to my knowledge between that and the MVF, at least from a fire "fighting" vehicle stand point.) That's assuming the MVF was manufactured in 2017 and just recently became widely-available enough for me to snag a couple on ebay.

And, before that, it seems to me that I bought the "Large Blower Truck" three times over the course of about 3 years while hoping to find something really NEW during the same period. I guess I have to include a couple of fire vehicles (not sedans or passenger cars, but trucks or 'rescue' equipment) that DID emerge during the past couple of years...both in the Long series: the #137 Isuzu Giga Base Functional Formable truck, which came out in the 2016 line, and the slightly-more recent (?...2017?) #121 Salamander Extreme tracked vehicle and 'trailer' (which I'm waiting for in the mail...) But, those vehicles aren't quite in my definition of "fire fighting" vehicles....they're used on major incidents or special circumstances, but not actively pumping water onto the flames...*

*It's kinda like the "cataloging" question...we all might have different ways of "categorizing" our collections. I collect "fire apparatus", but my emphasis has always been on "fire engines"...the front line of firefighting...and the support and command vehicles have to appeal to me before I'll consider spending the money. So, many "command" vehicles never make it to my collection, and some support vehicles (including fire department tow trucks and dump trucks and similar peripheral vehicles) just don't 'qualify' in my brain...but many ambulances do and some don't.

Oh, and here's a link to one of my posts on the Isuzu Giga Base...: http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/7588744/1/#new
