Mustang wearing Impala caps?

I'm pretty sure that's what they have done here. Used the 1970 Chevy Impala hubcaps to replicate the Mustang wire caps. I'm in love. Can't wait to snatch one with those caps. They totally change the look of the car. Smart thinking on Auto World's part to get more mileage out of this casting.

I too enjoy detail changes like this that really alter a car's persona; makes it far more interesting to collect all the variations when it isn't just the paint changing.

I agree. I don't have a single version of this casting in my collection and now I want this one BAD.

I don't think so... close maybe. My sister had these on her '67 coupe.

Image shows what is available at CJ Pony Parts. A direct replacement part.

Nah, I agree with JeepXJLover that these are the Impala hubcaps being repurposed. I like them.

Thanks Dean, I know I will grab the Fords, now I have to consider an Impala for spares. Lots of potholes in NY state. The possibilities are high that one might detach itself going down the road. ...Like the Charger chasing Lt. Frank Bullitt's Mustang through SF.

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Looks great! In 1/64, it doesn't make sense to make two similar wheels. At this scale, the differences are negligible. The Impala wheels look perfect for the Mustang, proving Bowties are good for something. :P

Ah, CJ's. Been there many times. They even hold a customer appreciation car show once a summer. Showed my '82 there a few years back. I was parked next to a Pantera. You can guess which one got more attention. ;)

Both very close, very close at that. I do remember those Mustang caps.
AW or any other company ain't going to make two different sets for a pair that close...
At least they aren't using Mopar and Shelby wheels on their Trans AMs like GL...LOL

Either way they look good. I don't mind the repurposing when they are this close. What Greenlight has done on their late 70's Trans-Am's by using the Mopar rallye wheel and the 80's style lace wheel instead of making an actual "snowflake" rim is the sort of thing that really disappoints me.
