Today's car of the day comes from juantoo3's collection, and is Majorette's 1970 Ski-Doo Nordic Snowmobile.

Wikipedia

Ski-Doo is a brand name of snowmobile manufactured by Bombardier Recreational Products (originally Bombardier Inc. before the spin-off). The Ski-Doo personal snowmobile brand is so iconic, especially in Canada, that it was listed in 7th place on the CBC's The Greatest Canadian Invention list in 2007. Ski-Doo also has its own range of snowmobile suits. The first Ski-Doo was launched in 1959. It was a new invention of Joseph-Armand Bombardier. The original name was Ski-Dog, but a typographical error in a Bombardier brochure changed the name Ski-Dog to Ski-Doo.

Majorette covered the 1970 Ski-Doo snowmobile and Johnny Lightning released a modern Ski-Doo snowmobile around 2004. Has anyone else modeled the Ski-Doo brand? (Funny how the Ski-Doo name came to be because of a typo - I never knew that before this.)

Wikipedia

The first Ski-Doos found customers with missionaries, trappers, prospectors, land surveyors and others who need to travel in snowy, remote areas. The largest success for the snowmobile came from sport enthusiasts, a market that opened the door to massive production of snowmobiles. This popularity led to skidoo (sometimes ski-doo), with the derived verb skidooing (or ski-dooing), becoming the traditional generic term for snowmobile in much of Canada.

This is a nice model. I have one from my late childhood that is a newer issue from mid-90s. I had no idea back then it is an older casting.

The Quest Continues
I like this model. Looks like a genuine survivor. Never saw one at a show.

The title is wrong on this one. It should read "Snowmobile of the Day"! This one could be the first COTW I would vote for that doesn't have wheels!

 A snowmobile - young neighbor across the street has a couple (but think they are Artic Cats) that he enjoyed using this past winter. This is a nifty little model from Majorette - had one on my collection (it might even still be down there as it didn't seem to be a highly wanted model when posted in sale forums :D ).

Unless I picked it up...I'm bad about grabbing snowmobiles.

The only other snowmobile I'm aware of in scale is Golden Wheel / Motor Max in the little clear boxes that went through the Dollar Stores about 12-14 years ago...can't say they are Ski-Doo, not sure what they represent.

Does anyone have "Twenty-Three Ski-Doos"? If they only caught the typo one time, would there be any confusion about their new line of Ski-"DOG-DOO"???
But seriously, folks, this is a cool little model. I, too, had never known there to be a small-scale snowmobile of any sort.
